Description from Goodreads:

I expected a life of music.
I expected to raise my son.
It took one look to make everything change.
I never expected happiness.
I never expected to find her.
I never expected to feel desire.
I never expected I’d be a family man.
I never expected to be loved.
I never expected to fall in love.
They say you should expect the unexpected, I didn’t realize my unexpected would be the forever kind.

My Thoughts:

I’ll let her into my world if she’ll give me one little glimpse of hers. That’s all I ask for.

Heidi McLaughlin never fails when it comes to delivering a roller coaster, rock star romance :D! I was sucked into Harrison and Katelyn's story right from the first few sentences. Yeah, that is all it took for me to be a goner. I finished My Unexpected Forever in two days. The day I began reading it I stayed up until 2:30 a.m., which doesn't always happen unless the book really sucks me into the story. What do I love about Heidi McLaughlin's novels? She always gives the girl's POV and the guy's POV.  I personally loved reading from Harrison's POV :D!

“I don’t know what else to say. I shouldn’t have to sell myself to you. You either like me or you don’t. Thing is, you can’t lie, I know you feel something, you just have to let yourself believe I’m good enough to be a part of your life.”

HARRISON FREAKING JAMES!!!!!!!! OMG- you will understand the exclamations points once you read My Unexpected Forever ;D!!! Where to began?!?! When I read about Harrison character (Forever My Girl) I thought he was just like any other rock star character I've read about, or similar to Liam. I was completely wrong! Harrison James turned out to be what I never expected his character to be- caring, protective, sensitive, passionate, deep, hot, and he is a man that knows what he wants in his life. I have to confuse that I feel in love with Harrison's character right from the beginning. Let's talk about his tats ;). His body is a freaking canvas with all of the tats he has, but each tattoo tells a story that make him the man he is. His character just has so many layers that have to be shed to understand the real Harrison. Once all of those layers come undone you get this amazing father figure, lover, family man, and a rock-star. Who wouldn't fall in love with Harrison?!?!?! Is he going to be added to my book boyfriend's book list? YES HE IS :D!!!

I would never date a man who is covered in tattoos, wears a beanie and shorts all the time. He’s the quintessential rocker and doesn’t fit my life.

I just want to clarify that I loved Katelyn's character in Forever My Girl. In My Unexpected Forever I just felt like slapping some sense into her. Really girl?!?!? I can't believe such words would fall out of your mouth of not falling in love with a guy covered in tattoos and what not. But I get it. She has always been the proper lady and is a mother figure to her girls. Katelyn has not been around or lived the rocker life, so it is obvious that it will take her time to get used to it. Plus, she had lost her husband and that takes time to move on from. So I might have felt like slapping some sense into Katelyn, but I still loved her character :).

She’s my own personal roller coaster, and right now I’m feeling a bit sick from the jerking back and forth.

I can’t continue to fight my feelings. It’s taking far too much effort on my part to deny what my body and heart are telling me.

Yes, I did find it fucked up that Katelyn was just being hot and cold with Harrison. She leads him on only to reject him the next day. If Harrison was a different man, he would have stopped pursuing her and gotten another girl. But this doesn't happen, because he loves her too much. I gave Katelyn a standing ovation when she decides to give Harrison and herself a try as a couple. I was kept at the edge of my seat waiting for this precise moment to happen in the book. Every time I thought that they were going to get together, Katelyn goes and tells Harrison that it was a mistake. But once they get together it is a freaking explosion. Yes, the first time they has sex was just hot. It was just a ticking boom that was ready to explode. Their relationship is not all about sex- but I can't deny that the sex was insanely hot and sweet every time-because they become a family.

I never thought I’d find him attractive with all this tattoos, but I do. They excite me, and each time we’re together, I learn something about one of them. He’s a story waiting to be told.

My Unexpected Forever by Heidi McLaughlin has everything you would want to read in a rock star romance. There is lust, passion, love, tension, drinking, partying, rocking, motorcycles, sex, and with My Unexpected Forever you will have to expect the unexpected to happen! Heidi McLaughlin definitely delivered and has made My Unexpected Forever one of my favorite 2013 reads. I recommend everyone to buy and read My Unexpected Forever, because Harrison's and Katelyn's story is a must read.

Swoon Thursday #13: Torch & My Unexpected Forever

It's Swoon Thursday, hosted by  YA Bound. This is a weekly meme, which I will be doing every single Thursday :D! Here is how it works:

From the book you’re currently reading, or one you just finished, tell us what made you SWOON. Shout it out on Twitter with the hashtag #YABound, post it here in the comments, or grab the adorable button above and share it on your blog. We want to know!

This week I will be sharing swoons from Torch by Cambria Hebert & My Unexpected Forever by Heidi McLaughlin :D!

 Swoon #1:

He kissed me with a passion I never knew existed. With a possession that almost scared me. The way his lips moved over mine--demanding and rough--promised he would own me when all was said and done.

Swoon #2:

"I thought fire fighters were supposed to put out fires, not make them," I said when he lifted his head.

He smiled. "Get used to the heat, sweetheart, because this is one flame I'm never putting out."

Swoon #1:

“Want me to distract you?”
“How on earth are you going to do that?”
Harrison shrugs and turns his baseball cap around. His lips are on mine before I can take my next breath. As the car moves, jerking us back and forth, his tongue glides against mine in a relaxed state. My hand cups his cheek and my fingers play along his jaw, rubbing the scruff that has grown since his last shave.

Swoon #2:

He grinds against me, making it impossible for me to say no. My fingers seek out the buttons on his vest, then his shirt. I start at the bottom and work my way up. I throw his tie over his shoulder and unbutton the rest of his shirt. My lips are blazing a trail down his chest. I pull hard on his nipple ring just as he pushes up my dress and rips my panties off, the ones I bought especially for tonight.
“I’ll go fast,” he says, dropping his pants.

Swoon #3:

He watches me. He takes stock in knowing that I’m coming undone by his touch. He pushes harder. My body slams against the wall. The way he keeps control, the way he keeps his rhythm, it’s like I’m the beat of his drum and he’s playing me with every ounce of energy he has.

I just had to share 3 swoons from My Unexpected Forever by Heidi McLaughlin (LOVED HARRISON) :D!

What did you think of my swoons?

Teaser Tuesday #14: Torch & My Unexpected Forever

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along :D! Just do the following:
• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

This week I will be sharing teasers from Torch by Cambria Hebert and My Unexpected Forever by Heidi McLaughlin

Teaser #1:

If a single touch from him could make the entire world fall away, then what would his kiss be like?

Teaser #2:

I felt breathless, shocked, and excited all at once. Shocked at his display of anger, breathless by my body's desire, and excited because he was so incredibly close.

Teaser #1:

All I know is that touching her for that one brief moment, having her hair glide along my knuckles and the look in her eyes when I did it; I felt like I could do anything, all because she didn’t move away, she didn’t look away. She stayed and allowed me one solitary piece of herself and now that moment will burn into my memory until I can do it again.

Teaser #2:

I cover my face with my hands while he laughs beside me. What is wrong with me? I’m married, even if my husband isn’t around. I can’t just start over with another man. Life isn’t supposed to work that way.

What did you think if the teasers? Have you read Torch yet?

Series: Stripped #1.5

Expected Publication Date: 10/22/13

Genre: New Adult Contemporary Romance

Summary from Goodreads:

*A novella to the best-selling New Adult novel STRIPPED*

I’m the knight on the white horse in her eyes, the one who broke down her defenses after her sister’s death until she realized she was capable of love. To her—aside from my name, Torrin Kingsley—I’m perfect.
But there’s a sliver of my past I’ve never shared with her. One that is now haunting me with every breath I take. One she is starting to raise her brow to.

I’m not certain how much longer I can keep it from her. To be honest, I don’t know that it would make a difference anyway, because it seems no matter which path I choose, they all lead to the same end point. A place without Quinn.

My demons run bone deep. I guess burying them forever wasn’t possible.

The only person poetry-loving Cali Monroe hates more than herself is Logan Waters, the geeky kid who lives in the dorm building next to hers.

Ever since Cali's parents told her she would amount to nothing, she has felt entirely inadequate. Friendless and alone, she takes on the mean girl role in hopes it will make her feel better--and Logan serves as the perfect target. He infuriates her with his obnoxiously long lashes, his all too perfect dimpled smile, and his complete lack of personality outside of his intelligence. It doesn't hurt that he's part of the reason her brother is dead, either. So Cali hates him, and he returns the favor. Thus, their prank-filled, insult-driven rivalry is born, and torturing Logan quickly becomes the highlight of her life.

But when Cali's parents set them up on a blind date, she begins to realize Logan might not be as boring as she always thought. He shares her love of poetry, takes a sadistic pleasure in making fun of crepes, and he makes her blush when he calls her smile pretty.

And hey, maybe those long lashes of his aren't that obnoxious after all…

Two Roads is New Adult Romance about finding love, standing out, and learning to embrace who you are. It contains some language and mild sexual content.

(unedited):

The button popped open and I drew the zipper with its tiny multiple teeth down and down, opening my master’s trousers as if it was the most natural thing in the world.
Some part of me screamed inside the Perspex cage I built. Ranting and raging for true freedom, not phantom vacancy. But I muted the voice. I didn’t need it. It just complicated my already complicated life.
Q might be able to use me as he saw fit, but he’d never touch the most important part of me. That I saved for Brax. For my own survival. I’d opened the locked door again when I was free and not before.
Sighing, I relaxed for the first time since I’d been stolen. This was defense. I could see now how prey coped. Always living with the knowledge of pain or death. It didn’t matter. My body was dispensable. My soul was forever.

My Thoughts:

Time passed, but I really wasn't doing anything to pass the time.

Beside Your Heart by Mary Whitney was a great beginning to a series :D! The story was different from what I have been reading so far, and I enjoyed every part of it. It is a coming of age story with a little tragedy in it. The bridge between YA and NA is really emerged into Beside Your Heart. What do I mean by this? It feels like you are reading a YA book from chapter one, but then it emerges into NA territory with the sexual scenes. Of course the Prologue and Epilogue are in the NA age category. Now, one thing  I have to mention that really stood out to me was how Mary started the Prologue in Nicki's POV, and ended the Epilogue in Adam's POV :).

The other two stages were depression and acceptance, and I was stuck somewhere between the two of those.

I have to say that right from the start I was touched by Nicki's character. Nicki experiences a tragic accident that leaves her permanently scared, and without her sister. Right from the beginning of the story Nicki is suffering from a great loss, and doesn't know how to be open about the accident with others. Of course this changes once she meets Adam :). Like I said at the beginning, I just loved Nicki's character, because Mary Whitney made her a lovable character. What did I love about Nicki's character? I loved that she is strong about her sister's loss and with everything that is thrown in her path. I am not saying that she doesn't get hurt or suffer about it, but she is always able to get out of the gutter. Her character doesn't really mature much, because she has always been matured. Does her character develop? I really don't see much of a character development, but she does learn how to be open about her sister's loss. I am really hoping to see something more out of Nicki's character in the second book :).

I thought about Adam--- the big change in my life in the last month.

What can I say about Adam's character? My god, this boy seriously frustrated the hell out of me. I mean it is not his fault that he keeps leaving for vacations and that he has to leave by New Years. But still it just got on my nerves that for a moment he thought that it didn't really matter to Nicki. The poor girl has already suffered the loss of her sister, and her comes this amazing guy that makes her happy and he has to leave her? Yup, didn't really love that at all. I'm not saying that I didn't like his character, because I did. I liked that he is able to help Nicki release all of the hurt she has been feeling with her sister's loss, and that he makes her happy. He does have sweet gestures towards her. I believe that Mary Whitney gives us a glimpse to Adam's true emotions, thoughts, and feelings in the Epilogue :). So I am really hoping to get to read from Adam's POV in the second book (not saying it will happen, but would love to hear a little more from Adam's POV).

Everything in my life felt easier with Adam...

I like Nicki and Adam as a couple, and their relationship is both hot and sweet. What I love about Adam in their relationship is that he is always there for Nicki. He listens to her when she is pouring her heart out to him. I also love that Adam makes Nicki confident about her scars, because he loves her the way she is. Nicki also supports Adam in their relationship, because she supports the fact that he will have to leave her and they might not see each other again. I know a lot of girls would be moping around or pretty pissed off about the whole situation. Nicki is different, because she learns to accept this and is always there for Adam. So Nicki and Adam's relationship is really that they are always supporting one another, and loving each other to the fullest :).

Nicki still felt something, and that alone was enough.

Beside Your Heart by Mary Whitney was an enjoyable read and a great start to a series! The story is different from what I have read and I just grew attached to Nicki's character. I finished Beside Your Heart in three days (was also reading another book), because it is a really fast paced read. I just have one little complain for Mary Whitney. Did you really had to end it that way?!?!?!? Why did you just have to leave their story like that! I am really looking forward to reading the second book in the Beside Your Heart series :D!

Final Verdict: 4 Stars

EXCERPT:

We said our goodbyes, and Adam guided me to his black Honda. My stomach did flip-flops. This had been a very bad idea. Lisa was right. This was not good for me.
Adam opened my door, and I grasped for a way out. “You don’t even know where I live. It could be really out of your way in BFE.”
“BFE? Where is that?”
“It’s just a more polite way of saying Bum Fuck Egypt.”
“Of saying what?” He laughed.
“Oh, uh, Bum Fuck Egypt. It’s kind of an American saying for the middle of nowhere.”
Closing his eyes for a moment, he shook his head and grinned. “Bum. Fuck. Egypt. So you fuck someone in the bum in Egypt and that means the middle of nowhere?”
“In the bum?”
“Bum. It’s another word for arse.”
“I never really thought of it as being someone’s ass before.” I giggled. “You might be right, though. I thought it was more like you were a bum and fuck was short for fucking, as in ‘fucking Egypt.’ Does that make sense?”
“The whole thing doesn’t make sense, but it’s funny.” He leaned against the car door with the same look in his eye as when we’d talked about sexual frustration in class that other day. “You know, I don’t believe I’ve ever heard an American girl say fuck.”
I was in an eye-lock with him, biting my tongue. I bet Meredith liked to have sex all the time, but she’d never say fuck. “It’s not very ladylike,” I said.
“But you’re not bothered.”
“Well, I try not to say it.”
“Of course, but you don’t seem to bother much about what people think of you.”
I looked down, wondering if that was true, and the scar on my arm caught my eye. It was a perfect example. With all that I’d gone through, I didn’t fucking care. I shrugged. “Unless they’re my friends or family, it doesn’t really matter, does it?”
“No, it doesn’t.” He rested his chin on the door as he studied my face. I felt like I was being appraised again. With him being British and all, I wondered if he thought I should be more proper. Maybe that’s why he liked Meredith. A moment passed, and his voice brightened again. “You just said you lived by the school. So do I. Your home can’t be that far away.”
Excerpt 5 (Reading Past My Bedtime; Wine Relaxation and my Kindle)
Damn. He really was cute. His hair was longer and a little scraggly, and his clothes were more rumpled than Adam’s. If he didn’t have an English accent, he would have looked like a surfer boy. Plus he was nice. I wondered if Adam had said anything to him about me. Regardless, I thought I’d be nice back.
“Well, Adam and I have two classes together. You’re about to be taught economics by the soccer coach. If you’re lucky, you might learn how to balance a checkbook. English is at the end of the day. You’ll hear about Puritans there.”
“The Puritans? Weren’t they Englishmen who came to America? They were oppressed in England because of their religion.”
“That’s right.” I held his gaze. He was definitely older and confident, and I was pretty sure that if Rachel saw me talking to him, she would be pissed if I didn’t flirt a little. I leaned against my locker and said, “Religious oppression. Sexual repression. That pretty much sums up the pilgrims.”
“Sexual repression?” Raising his eyebrows, David smirked. “The last class sounds interesting. Why were the pilgrims repressed when it came to shagging?”
“A strict moral code leading to scandalous affairs.”
“Really? I like the last part.”
I tried to keep my eyes from bugging out. I bet you do, I thought. Time to tone things down, so I said, “The affairs just lead to self-mutilation. Reverend Dimmesdale deals with his by burning a big letter A for adultery into his chest.” I looked over at Adam, who gave a nervous laugh. I guess he didn’t like hearing about Dimmesdale again.
David turned his body so it was toward me, and he crossed his arms, settling into our conversation. His voice got a little lower and kind of sexy. “That part doesn’t sound like much fun to me. What do you think?”
