The ones that cause her to placate herself with sex. Anything to make her forget. But for Fran, there's nowhere to hide from the darkness that swallows her whole. Matt Dixon is the gorgeous brother of her best friend's fiancée. He's suffered losses of his own and isn't willing to let anyone in until his unexpected encounter with Fran Heller, the girl who challenges him and causes him to take a second look, not only at her, but at his own life. But Matt has scars of his own. Together can they help each other discover that second chances really do exist? That love doesn't have to hurt? Or has the damage they've both suffered cut too deep to ever heal? **NA/Contemporary Romance with language and mature sexual content.**

My thoughts:

WOW!!!! Scarred Beautiful by Beth Michele was not what I expected at all and this is a good thing, because I wasn't expecting to read a beautiful heart-wrenching love story. What a perfect read in the week of Valentine's Day!

Fran had an abusive childhood and all of that still affects her in the present time.  She has been physically and emotionally scarred by what her childhood life has handed her. Even though she went through such a horrible abuse, she is a strong and successful women. When I first read her memories about her childhood, I thought that she had been raped, but that was not the case. Beth Michele brings a new different type of abuse, that I have never really thought of or read of in any other book. I physically felt Fran's pain when she remembered these abuses, and I emotionally felt Fran's pain from these memories. My heart broke because no child should have to suffer something like this. What do I love about Fran's character? One thing I love about her character is that she represents inner beauty. I also love the way her character develops by the end of Scarred Beautiful.

I have added a new Book Boyfriend on my Book Boyfriends list :D! Matt has his own painful memories of the past. He lost his mother and sister to breast cancer and his father left him and his brother after the death of his sister. You can say that Matt had to grown up fast and take the responsibility of an adult figure in his brother and sister's life, which is why he is very up-tight at the beginning of the story- he wants everything to go as planned. I loved Matt's character so much because he is thoughtful, caring, funny, romantic, and hot! There is not one single thing I didn't love about Matt. He had me swooning from the very beginning with all of his hotness and romantic words until the very end.

Fran and Matt had already meet each other before, because Matt's brother is engaged to Fran's best friend. When they meet again in L.A. they are staying in the same hotel for a conference meeting they are going to be attending. The chemistry between these two flows naturally, you really do get that feeling that they have known each other for years, because that's just how they act around each other. Matt helps Fran heal from her emotional scars and Fran teaches Matt how to live life. I just loved Fran and Matt's relationship because even though it did develop quickly, it flowed naturally and it just felt right.

Beautifully Scarred by Beth Michele is a beautiful heart wrenching stand alone debut novel. Beth Michele gives you everything you want to read in a book: romance, comedy, heartbreak, and a HEA :D! I highly recommend everyone to read Fran and Matt's heart wrenching love story in Beautifully Scarred, because this is just one of those books that you have to read.

Final Verdict: 5 Stars

About The Author
I am a wife, a mom, an author, and a lover of all things chocolate, well, anything sweet really. While stuffing chocolate in my face, I enjoy reading young adult and new adult novels furiously, and spending time with my husband and two adorable children who keep me on my peppermint pink painted toes. Those same children who inspire me to tell silly stories that cause hysterical giggles to tumble from their bellies. I love to laugh and love to have a good cry, especially after reading a novel that stretches my soul, one that makes me feel, and lingers in the corner of my heart. I’m a hopeless romantic and a happily ever after fanatic, and I love to write about LOVE. I began writing when I was in middle school, penning anything from short stories, to poetry, and then later moved on to write children’s books. I have now endeavored into New Adult and Contemporary Romance novels and am loving every minute of it. My first novel, Love Love, was released in May, 2013.
