Heidi McLaughlin never fails when it comes to delivering a roller coaster, rock star romance :D! I was sucked into Harrison and Katelyn's story right from the first few sentences. Yeah, that is all it took for me to be a goner. I finished My Unexpected Forever in two days. The day I began reading it I stayed up until 2:30 a.m., which doesn't always happen unless the book really sucks me into the story. What do I love about Heidi McLaughlin's novels? She always gives the girl's POV and the guy's POV. I personally loved reading from Harrison's POV :D!

HARRISON FREAKING JAMES!!!!!!!! OMG- you will understand the exclamations points once you read My Unexpected Forever ;D!!! Where to began?!?! When I read about Harrison character (Forever My Girl) I thought he was just like any other rock star character I've read about, or similar to Liam. I was completely wrong! Harrison James turned out to be what I never expected his character to be- caring, protective, sensitive, passionate, deep, hot, and he is a man that knows what he wants in his life. I have to confuse that I feel in love with Harrison's character right from the beginning. Let's talk about his tats ;). His body is a freaking canvas with all of the tats he has, but each tattoo tells a story that make him the man he is. His character just has so many layers that have to be shed to understand the real Harrison. Once all of those layers come undone you get this amazing father figure, lover, family man, and a rock-star. Who wouldn't fall in love with Harrison?!?!?! Is he going to be added to my book boyfriend's book list? YES HE IS :D!!!
I would never date a man who is covered in tattoos, wears a beanie and shorts all the time. He’s the quintessential rocker and doesn’t fit my life.
I just want to clarify that I loved Katelyn's character in Forever My Girl. In My Unexpected Forever I just felt like slapping some sense into her. Really girl?!?!? I can't believe such words would fall out of your mouth of not falling in love with a guy covered in tattoos and what not. But I get it. She has always been the proper lady and is a mother figure to her girls. Katelyn has not been around or lived the rocker life, so it is obvious that it will take her time to get used to it. Plus, she had lost her husband and that takes time to move on from. So I might have felt like slapping some sense into Katelyn, but I still loved her character :).
She’s my own personal roller coaster, and right now I’m feeling a bit sick from the jerking back and forth.
I can’t continue to fight my feelings. It’s taking far too much effort on my part to deny what my body and heart are telling me.
Yes, I did find it fucked up that Katelyn was just being hot and cold with Harrison. She leads him on only to reject him the next day. If Harrison was a different man, he would have stopped pursuing her and gotten another girl. But this doesn't happen, because he loves her too much. I gave Katelyn a standing ovation when she decides to give Harrison and herself a try as a couple. I was kept at the edge of my seat waiting for this precise moment to happen in the book. Every time I thought that they were going to get together, Katelyn goes and tells Harrison that it was a mistake. But once they get together it is a freaking explosion. Yes, the first time they has sex was just hot. It was just a ticking boom that was ready to explode. Their relationship is not all about sex- but I can't deny that the sex was insanely hot and sweet every time-because they become a family.
I never thought I’d find him attractive with all this tattoos, but I do. They excite me, and each time we’re together, I learn something about one of them. He’s a story waiting to be told.
My Unexpected Forever by Heidi McLaughlin has everything you would want to read in a rock star romance. There is lust, passion, love, tension, drinking, partying, rocking, motorcycles, sex, and with My Unexpected Forever you will have to expect the unexpected to happen! Heidi McLaughlin definitely delivered and has made My Unexpected Forever one of my favorite 2013 reads. I recommend everyone to buy and read My Unexpected Forever, because Harrison's and Katelyn's story is a must read.
