Synopsis:
Logan Kalford was Wren Summers’ dream come true. All I’d ever wanted was to fall in love and be loved in return.
Logan stole my heart when I least expected it. He was sexy, adventurous, and the way he played guitar left me weak in the knees. He made me happy. He made me think I’d found the one.
And he made me believe in happy endings.
I knew he was my forever. I thought he knew it too.
I was wrong.
He destroyed everything I thought we had and shattered my dreams of us. He left me heartbroken. He made me doubt myself.
And he didn’t even seem to care…
Now I must let go. But how can I when he still consumes me?
How do you walk away from what you know was real?

My Thoughts:
I was so excited to read Your Exception by Bria Starr and it kills me
that I didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would. The synopsis caught
my interest and I thought it was going to be one of those heart
wrenching reads, but it just wasn't. I will say that the story itself is
different from the New Adult books I've read this year. There was
potential for Your Exception to be a great read, but it just didn't hit
that bar for me.
The heroine of the story, Wren, frustrated the hell out of me. The poor girl gets out of a crappy relationship, where the boyfriend had been cheating on her with one of her friends, and she has finally gotten over it. Then what happens? She falls for the guitarist of a band. Where does my frustration come from? Wren needs a guy to tell her that she is beautiful and sexy, and the relationship she has with Logan also got on my nerves a bit. I lost count on how many times I felt like slapping some sense or shaking some sense into this girl. There where a few things I loved about her character. One thing is that I'm was able to connect with her because she is a bookworm, another thing is that further in the story she thinks before she acts.
I don't know where to begin with Logan. I just felt that the presence of his character was weak and didn't stand out as much as Wren's character, or as much as the other characters in the story. This is actually the first time I have ever experienced this with a leading guy character. The few times his character stood out where with the swoon worthy make-out sessions at the beginning, and then way towards the end of the story. I wish that we could have gotten more Logan at the beginning, because by the end I did love his character. I loved the men Logan developed into by the end of the book :).
Wren and Logan's relationship didn't even last. Their relationship started very early on in the book, and it ended very early on in the book. I loved the way they were open with each other and were able to connect with each other at the beginning of the book. But all that I admired about their relationship fell apart when Logan started being an ass, and when Wren just couldn't move on. I get it that they are each other exception to give each other a second chance to their love. When Logan realizes the big mistake of his life was walking out on Wren and their relationship he starts to change. This is where I'm actually swooning a little bit over Logan, because he really goes above and beyond to get Wren's trust back and get her back in his life.
Wren had two other "love" interest in the story. One of these was Aaron another guy in a band. I didn't really care about Aaron's character and he just appeared a few times in the story. He was attracted to Wren the instant he saw her, but she still couldn't get over Logan. Wren's other love interest was Zachary. Now here is a guy that I loved more than Logan. My heart seriously broke for Zachary. He has always been in Wren's life looking out for her and always being there for her. I wished that Wren would have stayed with Zachary.
I loved Wren's and Cassidy's friendship. I haven't read a book in which both the heroine and her friend are bookworms! I wish that I could have this sort of relationship with a friend. Cassidy of course is the wild and irresponsible friend, but she is always there to give her support to Wren.
Your Exception by Bria Starr just didn't hit me the way I wanted or expected it to. I loved that both Wren and Logan's characters developed by the end of the story. Your Exception is about two people that get into a relationship too quickly with one of them investing more than the other. It is about giving each other a second chance at love, learning to trust each others love, and determining that they are each others exception.
