Synopsis:
Aleena Moore is content with her life. She has goals and dreams and an easy smile. She also has a secret she holds locked inside.Jared Holt believes he doesn’t deserve to love or be loved. He destroys everything he touches. Haunted by the mistake that shattered his life, he’s fled from the memory of that pain.
Jared doesn’t know why he’s compelled to return, but finds himself drawn back to the place where it all began. The exact place where it ended. When he runs into his childhood best friend, Aleena’s older brother Christopher, he agrees to share Christopher and Aleena’s apartment while he looks for a place of his own.
Aleena is no longer the little girl Jared remembers from his past and evokes feelings in him he never wanted to feel again. Terrified of destroying her, he fights to keep her away. But her touch is something he can’t resist—the touch that sealed his fate.
Their pasts are intertwined and their futures uncertain. The only truths they know are the secrets they whisper in the night.
My Thoughts:
Everything had changed even while everything seemed to remain the same.
WOW!!! This is the first book I've read by A.L. Jackson and I have become a fan of her writing. Other authors have captured me with their writing, but A.L. Jackson struck a deep emotional cord with Jared and Aly's story in Come to Me Quietly. This is the first time that I have ever felt so emotionally affected by a story, because I felt all of these characters emotions. It felt like I was taking part and living their story. From this day forward I declare myself a fan of A.L. Jackson writing.
I was ready to submerge myself in the dangerous waters that held Jared under. I'd been treading them for too long.
I
loved Aly's character from the very beginning of Come to Me Quietly.
She is strong, sweet, caring, determined, and I just felt an instant
connection with her character. One of the reasons I felt an instant
connection with her character is that she likes to draw, which is
something that I can relate to. In her drawings Aly holds one of her
biggest secrets since she was a little girl. Aly has everything planned
for her life but what she doesn't expect is the return of Jared Holt
back into her life and she doesn't expect all of the emotional havoc he
makes her feel.
I could never outrun it. Could never drown it. I would never forget.
I
also loved Jared Holt, because I just love my damaged bad boys. But
Jared is different from all of the other damaged bad boys I've read
about. Jared has lived through hell from a very young age, and he is
still suffering from one haunting memory he can't get out of his head
and can't forgive himself for. I am not kidding when I say that Jared's
suffering and haunting story got deep inside my heart. My heart broke
for all his suffering and I just felt like reaching out to him through
the pages and holding him. I have never been affected like this before.
A.L. Jackson just made me feel deeply for his character and his story. I
can say that Jared Holt has become one of my favorite damaged bad boys.
She wanted me just as intensely as I wanted her.
Aly
and Jared have known each other since they were little kids. So their
relationship is really about a second chance of being with the one you
love. Aly had always felt drawn to Jared, because he was always taking
care of her and protecting her. Now that she has grown she feels a
physical attraction to Jared, but she loves him for who he is and she
knows his story and his suffering. Jared has always liked Aly, but know
that he is back in town he doesn't expect to see her all grown up and
attractive. Jared tries to stay away because he doesn't feel like he
deserves to be able to love or to be loved in return. I just loved how
Aly and Jared's relationship develops in Come to Me Quietly. Aly and
Jared's relationship was deep, emotional, sexual angst, hot, sweet, and I
found myself shedding a few tears here and there.
"I see beauty and pain. Joy and sorrow. I see the good and I see the bad...and I loved it all.
Come
to Me Quietly by A.L. Jackson is an emotionally, raw, hauntingly beautiful
read that you will not want to miss. I have never read a book that has
made me feel so deeply for the character and the story. I felt every
emotion deep inside my heart for Aly, Jared, and their story. I didn't
want Aly and Jared's story to ever end, but we are getting a second book
:D! Come to Me Quietly is one of my favorite reads of all time. A.L.
Jackson wrote two memorable character and their story will forever hold a
place in my heart.Final Verdict: 5 Stars
A.L. Jackson is the New York Times bestselling author of Take This Regret and Lost to You, as well as other contemporary romance titles, including Pulled and When We Collide.
She first found a love for writing during her days as a young mother and college student. She filled the journals she carried with short stories and poems used as an emotional outlet for the difficulties and joys she found in day-to-day life.
Years later, she shared a short story she’d been working on with her two closest friends and, with their encouragement, this story became her first full length novel. A.L. now spends her days writing in Southern Arizona where she lives with her husband and three children. Her favorite pastime is spending time with the ones she loves.
